Trade terms
These terms apply when a business lists with Granted & Ready, applies for our green stamp, or uses our job board. They're short and in plain English. If anything's unclear, ask before you apply.
Who we are: Granted & Ready. Email: [email protected]. "You" means the business that applies.
1. Who can join
1.1 Tradespeople, architects and other home-improvement businesses (sole traders, partnerships and companies) working in Greater Manchester. You're acting for your business, not as a consumer.
1.2 Give us accurate details and keep them up to date.
2. What it costs
2.1 Listing, the green stamp, your profile and the job board are free. There's no fee per lead and no fee to be chosen.
2.2 If we ever introduce paid features, we'll tell you at least 30 days before, and we'll never charge you for anything you haven't agreed to.
3. The green stamp and our checks
3.1 To get the stamp you show us: in-date public liability insurance; proof of who you are (photo ID, and for companies a Companies House record we can match); for gas work a Gas Safe registration; and, if you have one, your electrical scheme registration. We may ask for more if something doesn't match.
3.2 The stamp lasts while your evidence is in date. We'll remind you before anything runs out; if it lapses, the stamp comes off until you send the renewal. Tell us straight away if your insurance or a registration is cancelled or suspended.
3.3 Documents you upload are private: only we see them, and they're never published. We delete your photo ID once we've checked it (within 30 days at most) and keep a note that we saw it. Our privacy notice explains the rest.
3.4 Approving you is our decision. We can refuse an application or remove the stamp, and we'll tell you why.
4. Your profile
4.1 Your profile shows your business name, the jobs and areas you cover, your "about" text, photos, phone, website, reviews and the checks we've done. You can ask us to change it at any time.
4.2 Only upload photos and words you have the right to use, and that show your own work. You keep ownership; you allow us to show them on our website and in our marketing of your profile while you're listed. We remove location data from photos.
4.3 You may use our stamp, stickers and badge only while you hold the stamp, and only for your own business. Remove them if the stamp comes off.
5. Jobs from homeowners
5.1 Your job board shows jobs in your trades and areas: what's needed, the postcode area, timing and budget band. You won't see the homeowner's details at this stage.
5.2 You can say you're interested with a short message. Up to 5 trades can do so per job (3 for planning jobs). The homeowner chooses who may contact them; we can't promise you'll be chosen.
5.3 When a homeowner chooses you, we pass you their name and contact details for that job only. You then hold their details as your own business records, and you must: - contact them promptly (we suggest within 24 hours) and only about that job; - never add them to a marketing list, share or sell their details; - keep their details secure and delete them when you no longer need them for the job (and your normal business records); - respect their rights, including their 14-day right to cancel work agreed in their home.
5.4 Gas jobs only go to engineers whose Gas Safe registration we've checked.
6. Code of conduct
While you're listed you agree to: 1. Keep your public liability insurance, and any registration you rely on, in date, and tell us if it lapses. 2. Give customers a written quote before you start, and never pressure anyone to decide on the spot. 3. Respect customers' rights, including the 14-day right to cancel work agreed in their home. 4. Never ask for full payment upfront, and never take a customer to the bank for cash. 5. Do gas work only if you're Gas Safe registered, and certify notifiable electrical work. 6. Use a customer's details only for their job, and never add them to a marketing list. 7. Turn up when you said you would, or let the customer know in good time. 8. Deal with complaints quickly and fairly, and reply to reviews politely. 9. Never write, buy or ask for fake reviews.
7. Reviews
7.1 Only homeowners who chose you for a job through us can review you, once per job. We don't remove genuine reviews because they're negative. You can reply politely.
7.2 Don't post, buy or ask for reviews of your own business, or of a competitor. Breaking this ends your listing.
8. Removing a listing
8.1 You can close your account and ask us to remove your profile at any time (Settings, or email us).
8.2 We can suspend or remove your listing or stamp if you break these terms or the code of conduct, if a check fails, or if we receive serious complaints. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to respond.
8.3 If your business appears in our lists from public records and you'd rather it didn't, use remove my listing.
9. Responsibility
9.1 You're responsible for your work and your agreements with customers. We're not part of them.
9.2 We provide the listing and job board as they are and free of charge. We don't promise any number of jobs. Apart from liability that can't legally be limited (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud), we're not liable for lost profits or business, and our total liability to you is limited to £100.
9.3 You'll be responsible to us for losses caused by your misuse of customers' details or by breaking these terms.
10. Changes, complaints and the law
10.1 We may update these terms; we'll tell you about important changes at least 30 days before they apply.
10.2 Complaints: email [email protected]. See our complaints procedure.
10.3 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.
